2- Study the pinch pots made by artist in this chapter. Describe their sensory qualities. What clues tell you that they were made by pinching?
The pinch pots are more rough feeling than pots made on the wheel. Sometimes if too much pressure is applied finger marks or scrapes can be seen on the pots.

2 - Explain why potters use additives such as grog when building large ceramic pieces.
Potters use grog or other additives to release trapped air within the clay. This is especially helpful for larger pieces to continue making them stronger and more solid.

2- Study the pinch pots made by artist in this chapter. Describe their sensory qualities. What clues tell you that they were made by pinching?
Many of the "perfect" pinch pots such as in figure 3-2 don't have the perfectly round shape the comes from the wheel even though they are symmetrical and even. Some of the less perfect pinch pots have lumps and fingerprints while being unbalanced and asymmetrical, such as in figure 3-4. This is what gives pinch pots their signature "organic" look.

3- In this chapter, find examples of ceramic pieces that can be used for storage. What are the requirements for a good storage container? Which forms seem better suited for this function? Why?

I think a good storage container must be large inside to store a good amount of stuff, have a stable bottom so it doesn't rock, and have a top that fits securely on. I think the best storage vessels have tops, but if the things being stored won't go stale than a top is not absolutely necessary. A few good forms for storage are teapots (hold tea), urns, and the facejugs we made. I think a good example of pieces that could be used for storage would be the 3 pots in figure 3-13. They are different sizes so you could hold a variety of items, have unique shapes and amusing faces and would be able to hold a lot.
